My journey down the path of natural healthy began many years ago.
Growing up my sister and I watched our mother place her face over a cup of steaming tea. We sat in awe as she tried to reach a higher state of consciousness through mediation. It turns out she was merely inhaling the steam of the tea; a perfect remedy for allergies, coughs, colds and congestion.
There are a variety of ways to use natural methods to deal with common ailments. In my blog and book, Do I Have to Wear Garlic Around My Neck? Home Remedies for Holistic Healing, I discuss how to use Vitamins, Herbs, Food and Home Remedies on common ailments.
Here are some samples of simple Home Remedies:
Bronchitis
Create a mustard plaster. Make a paste out of mustard powder by using 2 tablespoons of flour, one tablespoon of mustard and some water. Place oil on your chest before applying the paste. Let it sit for few moments until it really heats up, you'll feel it. This draws out the congestion.
Cold
Grate fresh ginger into warm water. Steep 5-10 minutes. Before drinking add lemon, honey and cayenne pepper.
Headaches
On your forehead place a few drops of one of the essential oils: sage, rosemary, thyme, lavender. These essential oils must be mixed with cold oils or can be found in already prepared formulas.
